Palatine is a great place to get out and about, with friendly people and a hometown feel. Because of this, it has a wonderful, eclectic dining scene with local restaurants from Mediterranean to Italian and beyond. Here is a list of seven of the best restaurants around Palatine. Enjoy!
16 South Bothwell Street
Located in downtown palatine and offering Argentinian and Italian food, Artistic Cuisine offers a fantastic wine list with a South American flavor. Their artistically plated dinner entrees include homemade gnocchi topped with roasted tomatoes and Argentinian-style chimichurri steak. Seasonal options abound, followed by Argentinian dessert flan con dulce de leche.
807 W Northwest Hwy
One of the best local meeting spots for 50+ years, and locally-owned by Palatine’s own Walt Oswald and John Luorio, the menu features Brandt’s signature half-pound burger as well as the ABC News-worthy BBQ ribs.
2121 S Plum Grove Rd
Pancakes are a staple at Red Apple, with over 15 types such as Swedish lingonberry pancakes. There are plenty of traditional breakfast items, as well as crepes. Try one of their malted milkshakes with lunchtime sandwiches and burgers.
64 S Northwest Hwy
With authentic Italian dining and an enormous wine list, Agio is a fantastic Italian restaurant. Calamari fritti and beef carpaccio are great starters before delicious entrees like cavatelli with shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, and a zesty lemon pepper sauce.
1278 E Dundee Rd
People call this the best Mediterranean and classic greek restaurant food in the suburbs. Bhaba ghanouj leads the way with appetizers, and scrumptious entrees such as chicken tawook – marinated grilled chicken with grilled tomato and onion – or mouthwatering tender beef with eggplant – such as mnazeleh, follow.
Nellie’s Gastropub and ConcertHub – Live Music!
180 N Smith St
Nellie’s was founded in 1972, and today it is one of the best music venues in the Chicago suburbs. Local bands and bigger names like the Violent Femmes play here. Add in the delicious American cuisine, and this is one of the better restaurants around. They serve over 150 beers including locals like Church Street Brewing and Ale Syndicate.
Christie’s Dairy Delights – Dessert with Flair
This coffee shop and ice cream bar in downtown Palatine is hard to beat when it comes to sweet treats. Their coffee comes from artisan roasters Metropolis Coffee, and Deerfields bakery supplies the baked goods. Thirty-two flavors of ice cream top it all off.
